Buyer Protection
How Buyer Protection works
Every booking on SpareSpot is covered by Buyer Protection. When you pay, your money is held securely by SpareSpot — it is not released to the seller straight away. This gives you time to confirm everything is as expected before the seller is paid.
If something isn't right, you can raise an issue within your dispute window. While an issue is open, the seller's funds stay frozen until it is resolved.
Your dispute window
Funds are always held until after the event date — they are never released to the seller beforehand. How long you have to raise an issue depends on the booking value:
- Transactions under £100 — you can raise an issue until 48 hours after the event date.
- Transactions £100 and over — you can raise an issue until 72 hours after the event date.
- If no event date is set on the listing, funds are held for 30 days after booking.
Your exact deadline is shown on the order summary before you pay and on each booking in My Bookings. The dispute window always closes at or before the seller is paid — never after.
How to raise an issue
If something goes wrong with a booking, you can raise an issue in two ways:
- Go to My Bookings and tap Report a Problem on the affected booking, or
- Email support@sparespot.co.uk with your booking details.
What happens during a dispute
- Funds frozen. As soon as you raise an issue, the seller's earnings for that booking are frozen and cannot be withdrawn.
- Investigation. Our team reviews the booking, your message history and any evidence from both sides.
- Resolution. If the issue is upheld, you receive a refund and the spot is released back. If not, the frozen funds are released to the seller.
After the dispute window closes
Once your dispute window has passed, the booking is considered complete and the seller's funds are released. SpareSpot is not liable for issues raised after the dispute window has closed, so please check your booking and raise any problem promptly.
Ticket transfers & staying safe
For event tickets sent electronically, the seller transfers the ticket(s) to the name and email you provide at checkout, using their ticket provider's official transfer feature. Once they mark the tickets as sent, confirm receipt in My Bookings to close your dispute window. Confirming receipt does not release funds early — funds are held until after the event date and released 48 hours post-event (72 hours for transactions over £100).
Never share account logins and never pay or communicate outside SpareSpot. If anyone asks for payment by bank transfer or outside the app, use Report suspicious activity in the conversation or email support@sparespot.co.uk immediately.
If an event is cancelled or postponed
If an event is cancelled or postponed, SpareSpot may mark the listing as cancelled. All confirmed bookings are refunded in full automatically and you'll be notified by email — no action is needed from you.
