Disputes & Refunds

Last updated: June 2026

Every booking is covered by Spare Spot Payment Protection. The seller is only paid once your spot is safely confirmed, so your money is never released to them instantly.

1. How long funds are held

We hold the seller's earnings until after your event date has passed so you're protected if something goes wrong. Funds can never release before the event date:

  • Transactions under £100 — funds are released to the seller 48 hours after the event.
  • Transactions £100 or more — funds are released 72 hours after the event.
  • If no event date is set on the listing, funds are held for 30 days after booking as a fallback.

Confirming receipt of your tickets closes your dispute window but does not release funds early — the event-date hold still applies. This protects buyers while ensuring sellers are paid on a clear, predictable schedule.

2. Step 1 — Contact the seller

Most issues are resolved quickly. If your tickets or details haven't arrived, or something isn't right, message the seller first from your booking. Sellers are asked to respond within 24 hours.

3. Step 2 — Raise a dispute

If you can't reach the seller or they don't resolve it, use "Report a problem" on your booking, or email support@sparespot.co.uk. Our response times:

  • First response within 1 working day.
  • We pause the seller's payout while we review and gather evidence from both sides.
  • Most disputes are resolved within 5 working days.

4. Refunds

  • If the spot was never delivered or the event was cancelled, you receive a full refund and the spot is released back.
  • Partial issues may be resolved with a partial refund.
  • Refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
  • If you've already paid by card and open a bank chargeback, the booking is marked as disputed and funds are held until the chargeback is resolved.

5. When you're not covered

Protection doesn't cover change-of-mind cancellations after a spot has been delivered as described, or arrangements made outside Spare Spot. Always keep communication and payment on the platform so you stay covered.
