Company information

SpareSpot is operated by Spare Spot Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17278329), with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.

1. About SpareSpot

SpareSpot ("we", "us", "our") operates an online marketplace that connects people who have a spare spot at a social event ("sellers") with people who want to join ("buyers"). SpareSpot is operated by Spare Spot Limited (Company No. 17278329, registered in England and Wales, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ) and is available to users in the United Kingdom and the European countries listed on our website. By creating an account, listing a spot, or making a booking you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

2. Our role — marketplace facilitator

SpareSpot is a facilitator only. We are not the organiser, host, principal, or provider of any event, ticket, booking or spot listed on the platform, and we are not a party to the agreement between buyers and sellers. Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for honouring confirmed bookings. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or availability of any listing.

3. User responsibilities

You must be 18 or over and provide accurate account information. You agree to use the platform lawfully and not to post misleading, fraudulent or infringing content. Sellers must have the right to sell or transfer the spot they list and must deliver what they describe. Buyers must pay in full and behave responsibly at events. You are responsible for any tax due on income you earn.

4. Payments

Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. The buyer pays the listing price set by the seller plus a booking protection fee at checkout. SpareSpot does not store full card details. Seller funds are held by SpareSpot until after the event date has passed. For transactions under £100 (or the equivalent in the listing currency), funds are released 48 hours after the event. For transactions of £100 or more (or the equivalent in the listing currency), funds are released 72 hours after the event. If no event date is provided at the time of listing, funds will be held for 30 days from the booking date. SpareSpot reserves the right to extend any hold period in the event of a dispute or where fraud is suspected.

5. Currency and pricing

Listings may be priced in the currency chosen by the seller (GBP, EUR or another supported European currency). Buyers pay in the listing currency shown at checkout. The 12% booking protection fee is calculated in the listing currency. Where a buyer's card is denominated in a different currency, the buyer's bank or card issuer may apply its own exchange rate and fees, which are outside SpareSpot's control.

6. Booking protection fee (12%)

A booking protection fee of 12% of the spot price is added to the buyer's total at checkout, calculated and charged in the listing currency. This fee is SpareSpot's charge for operating the marketplace, facilitating secure payment and providing buyer protection support. The seller receives the full price they set. The fee is shown clearly before payment and is generally non-refundable except where a booking is cancelled within the permitted cancellation window or is refunded due to a valid dispute.

7. Seller payouts and withdrawals

Seller withdrawals are processed in the currency of the balance held in your wallet. Sellers in the United Kingdom may withdraw to a UK bank account (sort code and account number). Sellers in supported European countries may withdraw to a bank account held in their own name via IBAN/BIC, where the account currency matches the balance being withdrawn. Each currency balance is withdrawn separately; we do not convert between currencies. Your bank may apply its own receiving or conversion fees, which are outside our control. Payouts may also be made via our payments partner Stripe where you have connected a Stripe account.

8. Cancellations and refunds

Buyers may cancel a booking for a full refund (including the booking protection fee) within 24 hours of booking, provided fulfilment has not begun. After this window, refunds are at the seller's discretion unless a valid dispute is upheld. Sellers who cannot fulfil a confirmed booking must refund the buyer in full. Refunds are returned to the original payment method in the currency originally charged and may take several business days to appear.

9. EU/EEA consumers — right of withdrawal (cooling-off)

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, the 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive does not apply to the supply of services related to leisure activities — including event tickets, hospitality and bookings — where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance. Bookings made through SpareSpot fall within that exemption. Accordingly, where a booking relates to an event, the purchase is final once confirmed, subject to SpareSpot's booking protection, our cancellation window above, and your rights where a service is not supplied as described. This exemption is also disclosed to you at checkout before payment.

10. Dispute resolution

If something goes wrong, buyers and sellers should first try to resolve it via in-app messaging. If unresolved, either party can raise a dispute by contacting support@sparespot.co.uk. While a dispute is open we may freeze the related seller funds. We will review the evidence from both sides and make a reasonable decision, which may include a full or partial refund. Our decision on disputes is final.

11. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR)

Consumers who are unhappy with the outcome of a dispute may contact us at support@sparespot.co.uk. SpareSpot is not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, but will consider ADR on a case-by-case basis. This does not affect your right to bring a claim before the courts of your country of residence where such a right applies.

12. Prohibited listings

You must not list: anything illegal or fraudulent; tickets or spots you do not have the right to sell; counterfeit, stolen or duplicated tickets; spots involving age-restricted or unlawful activity for buyers who do not qualify; anything that breaches an event organiser's terms where resale is expressly prohibited; or any content that is discriminatory, abusive or unsafe. We may remove listings and suspend accounts that breach these rules.

13. Ticket Resale and Event Listings Policy

SpareSpot is a peer-to-peer marketplace for genuine spare spots at real-life social events and a direct sales channel for event organisers and promoters. We are a technology platform that facilitates transactions between parties. We are not a ticket vendor, ticket agent, or commercial reseller.

Individual Seller Obligations

Individual sellers listing tickets or event spots on SpareSpot confirm that:

  • All tickets were purchased by the seller for personal use and not for the purpose of commercial resale
  • Listing prices do not exceed the original face value paid plus any unavoidable booking fees
  • The seller is not acting as a commercial ticket tout or secondary ticketing business
  • The listing does not violate the original terms and conditions of the ticket purchase
  • The seller has the right to transfer or resell the ticket under the terms issued by the event organiser

Organiser and Promoter Listings

Event organisers and promoters listing their own unsold inventory on SpareSpot are acting as primary sellers. Organiser listings are not subject to face value restrictions as they represent the original sale price set by the rights holder. Organisers are responsible for ensuring their listings comply with all applicable consumer protection legislation including price transparency requirements.

Platform Liability

SpareSpot acts solely as a facilitator of transactions. We are not party to the contract between buyer and seller. We do not verify the authenticity of tickets listed on the platform. Buyers are encouraged to verify ticket validity with the event organiser before attending. SpareSpot will cooperate fully with event organisers, rights holders, and regulatory authorities including the Competition and Markets Authority in relation to any listings that may breach applicable law or organiser terms.

Takedown Requests

Event organisers, artists, venues, and rights holders who wish to request removal of a listing may submit a takedown request via the Report Listing function on any listing page or by emailing hello@sparespot.co.uk with subject line Takedown Request. We aim to review all takedown requests within 24 hours.

Compliance with UK and European Law

SpareSpot complies with all applicable UK consumer protection legislation including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Digital Markets Competition and Consumers Act 2024, and with applicable EU consumer protection law where we make the service available in European countries. In line with forthcoming UK legislation SpareSpot prohibits individual resale of tickets above face value and will implement any additional compliance measures required by law as they come into force.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpareSpot is not liable for the acts or omissions of buyers or sellers, for events that are cancelled, changed or not as described, or for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the platform is limited to the booking protection fees you have paid to us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

15. Account suspension

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, engage in fraud, or create risk for other users. You can delete your account at any time from the in-app account settings.

16. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms affects mandatory consumer protection rights available to you under the law of your country of residence, or your right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where applicable law gives you that right.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use of SpareSpot after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
